Late NYC film photos

Im a late blogger.
Here are my film photos from my last NYC trip. I didn't take as many photos as I normally would, I was too busy living in the moments instead of capturing them. (;
My next trip to NY is in a few weeks and I will also be going to Philly for the first time during my trip, to see FKA twigs. excited!!! enjoy.

"A Fantastic Journey"

Enjoyed a short vacation to NYC a few weeks ago. My main reasoning for going was to see the Wangechi Mutu exhibition, "A Fantastic Journey" at the Brooklyn Museum.. amazing show. I brought back with me lots of inspiration for my art and the gallery.

I took some photos of the exhibit but they turned out a bit blurry (as a result of trying to rush shots when the guards walked away); but here are photos of the exhibit on the museums site here

Paint S k i n

Been painting on people lately, skin is a fun surface to paint on.. learning it slowly. I wonder how it feels to be the physical canvas for an artist..

JAMAICA

Just came back from a vacation to Jamaica
Had an amazing time there and a lovely birthday
I was getting nervous because I wasn't able to buy film before I left, so the only thing I had to shoot with was the 10 shots left on the film I already had in my Pentax. I ended up shooting it on 400 instead of 100 without realizing which also made me nervous before I turned the film in but the island's beauty looks good regardless. I didn't get to take a photo of everything I would've wanted to, although I sort of purposely did that. Some memories are too special to share.. or expose (get it?). Most of the time I was too busy talking to the locals to remember to pull my camera out... Jamaica was too beautiful and definitely the vacation I needed. Cleared my mind and I know now what I have to do in Milwaukee

This tree was awesome, it was right outside our hotel room. It overlooked the beach so right as I walked outside I say this

I don't like being a tourist places I go, I like to experience the actual local life there. With my mom being from Jamaica it wasn't hard to do that. This lady was selling mangos on the streets while we were walking. They tasted amazing. 500 jama dollas
What to live by that the Rastaman kept teaching me:
